Audi A9 Concept |
The Audi A9 Concept is a design study of a futuristic luxury flagship with a dynamic and flowing design inspired by Santiago Calatrava's works. It was created by Spanish Daniel Garcia from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia.
The Audi A9 concept is a futuristic proposal for a luxury sports sedan, which would be positioned higher than Audi A8 flagship and would be aimed at the luxury sedan segment, which includes such models as the Porsche Panamera, and - if it went to production - the Lamborghini Estoque.
As designer Daniel Garcia explains, "The styling of the A9 concept was partially inspired by the stunning architectural style of Santiago Calatrava's buildings in "La Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias" (The City of Arts and Sciences) in my own hometown of Valencia."
This influence can be seen in the clean flowing lines of the vehicle and futuristic styling features. Calatrava's buildings look like they come from 100 years in the future.
The windscreen and roof are integrated into a single piece, formed using an advanced (and yet to be discovered) nanotechnology material which features a self-repairing system and allows for adjustments in color and opacity.
The bodywork adopts an 'electronic painting' system which allows the owner to change the color at the touch of a button.
The proposed drivetrain is a hybrid setup which uses an internal combustion engine working in conjunction with four in-wheel electric motors.
